Although his showroom in Barcelona, Espais Interiors, was acclaimed, Ramón decided to turn his life around. He left the city and settled in a small village of the Empordà ready to persevere with the work he loved, but in the more tranquil rhythm of the countryside. He remains true to his craftsmen, who know he is a stickler for perfection and so guarantee the quality of his creations.

Change of residence

The home of this interior decorator is proof enough of his tremendous talent for transforming any space into an intimate and comfortable place. He restored his masia with tender loving care, devising areas that are distinct but all of exquisite taste. The porch is inviting for breakfast, just as the office with its view on the countryside stimulates writing or drawing. The modern kitchen is ideal for cooking; the living room urges you to read a book in the rays of the afternoon sun; the garden that blends with the surrounding landscape entices you to a walk. These small, great things confirm that his decision to move to the countryside was the right one.

Warm and comfortable space

We enjoy a beautiful sunset as we talk and savour a green tea under the porch. It may have been the serious accident that I had that made me think about my work, my life, everything. I opted to enjoy the countryside without abandoning my work. Here the Tramuntana blows away city stress. The rhythm is slower, and you can work in peace and with more time. That makes it more enriching and more fun. His style has not changed; he remains true to the cosy spaces typical of the Toscana, the Provence, Brittany, or England. This has always been my style. As cold minimalism was triumphant in Barcelona, I strove to make rooms colourful and warm. You can’t simply follow trends in interior decoration; your aim is to make your client feel comfortable in his home, not to be the author of a trendsetting creation. Your protagonists are the people who will live in the space you create.

Colors and textures

Ramón believes in the importance of personal service; he likes to get to know his clients, so he can create according to their own interests. Above all, his enthusiasm for his work is obvious; he can be passionate about the fabrics he knows so well and which he always chooses from the best brands. They are all-important. When people ask me about the colours of the walls, I advise them to start with the fabrics; when those are decided, and the light is defined, you see which tones and colours the walls are asking for. This is one of those small details that are so typical of Ramón. They guarantee that his work is always full of harmony as well as natural. The decorator does not intrude, yet he leaves his imprint, adapted to the character of every client. He blends with their lives as if he had always been a part of them.//
